Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women (VCEW) is an autonomous, self-Financing engineering college approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University. Established in 2001 by the visionary philanthropist Prof. Dr. M. Karunanithi, the college aims to provide quality technical education for women, especially from rural backgrounds. The institution has been marching towards excellence under the guidance of Prof. Dr. S. Kuppuswami, a well-known academician in the field of technical education for the past four decades. The UGC and Anna University have conferred autonomous status to the college from 2013-2014. Recently, the UGC granted extension of autonomous status for a period of 10 years from 2023-2024 to 2023-2033. The VCEW is accredited by NAAC since 2017, now with A++ grade with score of 3.57. The college has also obtained accreditation of NBA for the programmes since 2008 and now all the eligible programmes are accredited by NBA under Tier-1. The college is also accredited by TATA Consultancy Services. Sponsored Centre of Excellence by IBM’s “Centre of Academic Excellence for Data Science and Big Data Analytics”, Intel and Dell’s “AI Skills Lab”. IDEA Lab was established in the year 2022 funded by AICTE with an amount of Rs.1.01 Crore. CURIE (Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence in Women Universities), DST, Government of India has granted a fund of Rs.63.92 Lakhs for PG program. SIRO (Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) certified institute by DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research).
